KSwitch R20 – EN50155 Modular TSN Ethernet Switch by Kontron

The Kontron KSwitch R20 is a railway-compliant modular Ethernet switch certified to EN50155 standards, engineered to deliver high-performance networking in demanding transportation and industrial environments. This fully managed Layer 2/Layer 3 switch supports up to 28 ports with flexible configurations including 24 Gigabit Ethernet ports and 4 10G Ethernet ports, all utilizing robust M12-X coded push-pull connectors designed for vibration-intensive applications. The switch operates on the Microchip LAN969x TSN Switch Family platform running Microchip iStaX firmware, providing store-and-forward operation with full wire-speed non-blocking switching and low-latency cut-through forwarding capabilities. Time-sensitive networking features include IEEE 802.1AS-2020 timing synchronization, IEEE 1588v2 Precision Time Protocol supporting Ordinary Clock, Boundary Clock, and Transparent Clock modes, plus IEEE 802.1Qbv Time Aware Shaping and IEEE 802.1CB Frame Replication and Elimination for Reliability. The KSwitch R20 supports comprehensive network redundancy through IEEE 802.1D/1w/1S spanning tree protocols, G.8032, MRP IEC-62439-2, and LACP link aggregation. Power over Ethernet capability delivers up to 90W from the internal supply or up to 600W with an external PoE power supply. Security features include IEEE 802.1X port access control, IP and MAC-based access filtering, and SNMPv3 user-based security. The rugged design operates across an extended temperature range of -40°C to +70°C with brief excursions to +85°C, accepts 24VDC to 110VDC input voltage, and achieves IP54 protection rating. Management options include web-based interface, comprehensive CLI, SNMP V1/V2c/V3, SSH, and HTTPS secure access.
