Description
The Hirschmann GRS2040-24TX/2SFP-2HV-2A is a GREYHOUND 2000 series industrial managed Full Gigabit Ethernet switch engineered for industrial environments where a high density of Gigabit copper TX connections is needed alongside fibre Gigabit uplinks for backbone aggregation, all within a single 19-inch rack unit. Port Groups 1, 2, and 3 each populate with 8 TX Gigabit copper ports for 24 copper Gigabit access connections, while Port Group 5 adds 2 Gigabit SFP uplinks for fibre backbone integration, giving a total of 26 active Gigabit ports. The full Gigabit performance across all copper access ports is the key differentiator between this GRS2040-series switch and the Fast Ethernet GRS2030 equivalent, making it particularly well-suited for automation control networks, data-intensive SCADA systems, and manufacturing environments where 100 Mbps access speeds have become a bottleneck. The fanless chassis operates from -40°C to +70°C, and dual power inputs accepting 60 to 250 VDC or 100 to 240 VAC support redundant power architectures. HiOS Level 2A provides QinQ VLAN tagging, DiffServ QoS, IGMP snooping, jumbo frames, HIPER-Ring, MRP per IEC 62439-2, RSTP, MSTP, and LACP. Security compliance to IEC 62443-4-2 Security Level 2 encompasses 802.1X, RADIUS, TACACS+, DHCP snooping, dynamic ARP inspection, secure boot, and signed firmware. IEC 61850-3 and IEEE 1613 substation certifications alongside NEMA TS2 cover energy, utility, and transportation deployments.
