Description
The TEWS Technologies TPCE280 is a standard height, half-length PCI Express Revision 3.0 carrier card designed to integrate a single-width XMC module into PCIe-based host systems — enabling engineers building process control, medical, telecommunications, and traffic management platforms to leverage the extensive range of XMC I/O modules within a compact PCIe carrier architecture. The PCIe x8 link from the host board to the XMC slot is enhanced by an onboard PCIe Gen3 Redriver, ensuring reliable signal integrity and safe operation on PCIe mainboards at speeds up to 8 GT/s depending on the XMC. XMC VPWR is selectable between 12V (TPCE280-x0R variants) and 5V (TPCE280-x1R variants) via order option, providing compatibility with a wide range of XMC modules. The TPCE280 supports XMC front panel I/O as standard, alongside independent P14 rear I/O through a 68-pin ERNI SMC right-angle connector (with differential routing) and P16 rear I/O via two Samtec Firefly UCC8 and UEC5 connectors. An integrated fan mounted under the XMC slot provides direct air cooling without occupying a second PCIe slot — a significant advantage in constrained system designs. A 14-pin JTAG header with four signals (TRST# not included) and selectable reference voltage (1.5V, 1.8V, 2.5V, 3.3V) enables XMC module debugging. For XMC modules with increased power needs, TPCE280-2xR variants draw from a PCIe Graphics Power Connector to supply up to 75W. Operating from -40 to +85 °C with an MTBF of up to 344,000 hours, the TPCE280 is available in four RoHS-compliant variants.
