CERES-TSN – Rugged TSN Ethernet Switch by Kontron

The Kontron CERES-TSN is a compact, rugged embedded Ethernet switch specifically designed to deliver high-reliability networking performance in demanding defense and military environments. Built around the advanced Microchip LAN969x TSN Switch Family with an integrated 1 GHz Arm Cortex-A53 processor, this switch provides up to 28 fully managed Layer 2/3 ports in a flexible configuration offering either 24x 1GbE Base-T and 4x 10GbE optical ports or 12x 1GbE Base-T and 2x 10GbE optical ports. The CERES-TSN delivers exceptional bandwidth with up to 66Gbps line-rate multi-layer forwarding capability and supports comprehensive Time Sensitive Networking features including IEEE 802.1Qbv Time Aware Shaping, IEEE 802.1CB Frame Replication and Elimination for Reliability, and IEEE 1588v2 Precision Time Protocol for precise timing synchronization. The rugged fanless design utilizes conduction cooling and operates across an extended temperature range from -40°C to +71°C while meeting stringent MIL-STD-461F EMC and MIL-STD-810G environmental standards. IP65-rated protection and 38999-type military connectors ensure reliable operation in extreme conditions including shock, vibration, and exposure to dust and moisture. Management capabilities include web-based interface, command-line access, and SNMP monitoring with comprehensive security features including IEEE 802.1X port authentication and secure boot compatibility. Four PoE+ capable ports provide power delivery for connected devices. The CERES-TSN excels in battlefield communication C4ISR networks, tactical communications, avionic and shipboard systems, combat vehicle platforms, and data acquisition applications requiring secure, high-bandwidth connectivity with deterministic performance.
