The Hirschmann RED25-4TX is a managed, fanless DIN rail industrial Fast Ethernet switch delivering four 10/100 Mbit/s copper RJ45 ports within a compact 47 x 131 x 111 mm housing, engineered as a cost-effective entry-level solution for industrial automation networks requiring advanced high-availability redundancy protocols. Running HiOS Layer 2 firmware at version 07.1.08, the RED25-4TX supports the full IEC 62439-compliant redundancy protocol suite including PRP (IEC 62439-3), HSR (IEC 62439-3), Fast MRP and standard MRP (IEC 62439-2), Device Level Ring (DLR), RSTP per IEEE 802.1D-2004, RSTP Guards, and LACP link aggregation, covering ring, star, line, and mesh topologies with seamless zero-downtime failover capability. Advanced VLAN management, IGMP snooping per VLAN, QoS prioritisation per 802.1D/p and TOS/DSCP, MMRP, MVRP, and Voice VLAN provide full traffic engineering. Industrial protocol compatibility with PROFINET IO, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, and IEC 61850 MMS server and switch model ensures direct integration with leading PLC, DCS, and substation automation platforms. Security capabilities include 802.1X port access control, RADIUS authentication, MAC-based port security, denial-of-service prevention, and HTTPS certificate management with configurable password policies and user account locking. PTPv2 transparent and boundary clock support provides precision time synchronisation. The redundant power input accepts 12–48 VDC or 24 VAC and the IP20 DIN rail enclosure withstands IEC 60068 shock and vibration with 35 V/m EMC immunity.
