The Hirschmann RED25-2TX/2SFP is a managed DIN rail industrial Fast Ethernet switch combining two 10/100 Mbit/s copper RJ45 ports with two FE SFP slots in the same compact 47 x 131 x 111 mm fanless enclosure, providing the flexibility to connect both copper and fibre links in mixed-media industrial network topologies. SFP support encompasses single-mode, multi-mode, and long-haul fibre via compatible M-Fast SFP modules, enabling long-distance connections within substations, large factory facilities, or between geographically separated control panels without separate media converters. Running HiOS Layer 2 software, the RED25-2TX/2SFP delivers the same comprehensive redundancy stack as the all-copper RED25 variants, including PRP and HSR per IEC 62439-3 for seamless zero-downtime failover, Fast MRP and standard MRP per IEC 62439-2, DLR, RSTP per IEEE 802.1D-2004, and LACP, making it fully interchangeable in high-availability ring and mesh architectures. Industrial protocol support covers PROFINET IO, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, and IEC 61850, ensuring native interoperability with major automation and substation platforms. Security is comprehensive, including 802.1X port access control, RADIUS authentication, MAC-based port security, denial-of-service prevention, and HTTPS certificate management. PTPv2 transparent and boundary clock support provides precision time synchronisation. Operating across an extended -40°C to +60°C temperature range, the RED25-2TX/2SFP is suited to outdoor control cabinets and demanding industrial environments.
