The Hirschmann IT MTS2948X-6Q-A is the flagship MAMMUTHUS series Layer 3 10 Gigabit Ethernet core switch, providing network architects with a high-density 1U rack platform that combines 48 x 1/10G SFP+ access slots and 6 x 40G QSFP+ uplink slots for a total switching capacity suited to data centre cores, campus backbones, and high-throughput industrial IT networks. The switch is managed via an out-of-band FE/GE RJ45 management port, dual RJ45 console ports, and a USB interface, while two modular hot-swappable redundant PSUs accepting 100 to 240 VAC maintain power continuity without network interruption. The advanced software suite embedded in the MTS2948X-6Q-A covers the full spectrum of enterprise and industrial networking requirements: Layer 2 switching with 4K VLAN, QinQ, STP/MSTP/RSTP, BPDU guard, link aggregation with LACP, and N:1 port mirroring; Layer 3 routing with IPv4 and IPv6 dual stack, static routes, RIPv1/v2, OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, GRE tunnelling, and ECMP; multicast with IGMPv1/v2/v3 and PIM-SM/DM/SSM; MPLS with LDP and L3VPN; and data centre features including VXLAN cross data centre interconnection with EVPN, TRILL, M-LAG, and OpenFlow 1.1/1.2/1.3 for SDN environments. Security is addressed to Common Criteria EAL 2+ with AAA, SSH v1/v2, 802.1X, RADIUS, TACACS+, URPF, dynamic ARP inspection, DHCP snooping, and IP source guard.
