Description
The Hirschmann GECKO 8TX is a fanless lite managed industrial Ethernet DIN rail switch providing 8x 10/100BASE-TX RJ45 ports with store-and-forward switching, designed for industrial deployments where port density, extended operating temperature, and reliability are priorities. With a wide operating temperature range of -40 to +60°C and an extraordinary MTBF of 7,308,431 hours calculated to Telcordia SR-332 Issue 3 at 25°C, the GECKO 8TX is built for long-life deployments in the harshest industrial environments. It draws just 3.9W from an 18 to 32VDC supply and fits within a compact 45.4 x 110 x 82mm DIN rail footprint, making it well suited to space- and power-constrained control cabinets. Redundancy is provided by RSTP (IEEE 802.1D-2004) and MRP Client support for integration into existing ring networks. Switching features include TOS/DSCP prioritisation, 4-queue QoS, VLAN support, Flow Control (802.3X), and static unicast and multicast filter entries. Management uses an HTML5 web interface, TFTP configuration and firmware transfer, and SNMP v1/v2/v3, with SSH and SSL security enhancements that step beyond the basic GECKO 5TX offering. Diagnostics include device status LEDs, Syslog, RMON (1) statistics, LLDP topology discovery, and log file. PROFINET protocol support and SNTP client time synchronisation complete the industrial feature set. Configuration is via BOOTP/DHCP and HiDiscovery. The IP30 enclosure operates to 3,000 metres altitude, with CE, FCC, and cUL 61010-1 approval and a 60-month guarantee.
