The Hirschmann BXS42-12TX-EECC-LV-2A is the low-voltage variant of the all-Gigabit BXS42 PoE+ railway switch, operating on a 24–48 VDC supply and designed for onboard PoE device powering in trains, trams, and buses where low-voltage auxiliary power systems are standard. With 12 x Gigabit Ethernet M12 X-coded ports — 11 of which are PoE-capable — the BXS42-12TX-EECC-LV-2A delivers up to 60W total PoE budget maintained at full 70°C operating temperature, enabling reliable powering of IP cameras, passenger displays, sensors, and access control devices over the same M12 cabling used for data. The all-Gigabit port configuration gives it a throughput advantage over mixed GE/FE PoE switches such as the BXS32, making it suited for video surveillance backbones and high-bandwidth device networks in modern rolling stock. With an MTBF of 893,024 hours at 25°C and a 60-month guarantee, the switch is engineered for the service life demands of transport operators. HiOS 2A software supports TSN 802.1Qbv, HIPER-Ring, MRP (IEC 62439-2), MSTP, Sub Ring Manager, and LACP, alongside PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, IEC 61850, and Modbus TCP. Time synchronisation is via PTPv2 Boundary Clock, PTPv2 Transparent Clock, 802.1AS, and SNTP.
