The Hirschmann BXS42-12TX-EECC-HV-2A is a managed industrial PoE+ switch from the BXS42 railway series, combining an all-Gigabit Ethernet M12 port lineup with onboard PoE+ delivery for powering IP cameras, passenger information displays, access control readers, and other end devices directly over M12 cabling. The switch provides 12 x Gigabit Ethernet M12 X-coded ports, of which 11 support PoE, delivering up to 60W total PoE budget maintained even at the full 70°C operating temperature — a demanding performance benchmark for onboard systems in thermally challenging rolling stock environments. Operating on a 72–110 VDC high-voltage input, the BXS42-12TX-EECC-HV-2A is compatible with the traction power infrastructure of heavy rail and metro vehicles. Its all-Gigabit port configuration differentiates it from the BXS32 series, providing higher and more uniform throughput across all PoE-capable connections, suitable for high-definition video surveillance backbones and dense device networks. HiOS 2A Layer 2 advanced software supports TSN 802.1Qbv, HIPER-Ring, MRP (IEC 62439-2) in both manager and client roles, MSTP, Sub Ring Manager, and LACP redundancy. Industrial protocols include PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, IEC 61850, and Modbus TCP, with time synchronisation via PTPv2 Boundary Clock, PTPv2 Transparent Clock, 802.1AS, and SNTP.
