The Hirschmann BXS32-12TX-EECC-LV-2A is the low-voltage variant of the BXS32 PoE+ railway switch, operating on 24–48 VDC and designed for onboard use in trains, trams, and buses where power-over-Ethernet delivery to passenger and safety devices must remain reliable even at elevated operating temperatures. The switch provides 12 M12 ports — 4 x Gigabit Ethernet X-coded with 3 PoE-capable, and 8 x Fast Ethernet D-coded all PoE-capable — supporting a total PoE budget of 60W at 70°C, enabling powering of IP cameras, displays, sensors, and access control devices directly over the M12 cabling. The 24–48 VDC input range is compatible with standard auxiliary power systems used in light rail, tram, and bus applications. With a MTBF of 895,418 hours at 25°C, the BXS32-12TX-EECC-LV-2A is engineered for the long service intervals expected in rolling stock deployments. HiOS 2A Layer 2 software supports TSN 802.1Qbv on interfaces 1/1–1/3, HIPER-Ring, MRP (IEC 62439-2) in both manager and client roles, MSTP, Sub Ring Manager, and LACP redundancy. Industrial protocols include PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, IEC 61850, and Modbus TCP. Time synchronisation covers PTPv2 Boundary and Transparent Clock, 802.1AS, and SNTP. Transport certifications include EN 50155, EN 45545 HL3, EN 50121-4, and NEMA TS2, with IEC 62443-4-2 Security Level 2 cyber security certification. The IP40 wall-mounted metal housing supports -40°C to +70°C operation at up to 3000 m altitude. Available from Recab, your Nordic partner for Hirschmann railway switch solutions.
