BRS40-8TX/4SFP-HL

BRS40-8TX/4SFP-HL – All-Gigabit TSN Managed DIN Rail Switch by Hirschmann

The Hirschmann BOBCAT BRS40-8TX/4SFP-HL is a compact fanless all-Gigabit managed industrial DIN Rail switch with hazardous location approval per ISA12.12.01, offering eight 10/100/1000BASE-TX RJ45 ports and four SFP fiber uplink slots across 12 ports total, operating from 0 to +60°C. Supporting TSN 802.1Qbv, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, and HIPER-Ring redundancy, it suits classified areas requiring compact copper-and-fiber Gigabit switching. Available from Recab, your Nordic partner for Hirschmann industrial switch solutions.
Description
The Hirschmann BOBCAT BRS40-8TX/4SFP-HL is the standard-temperature hazardous location variant of the compact 12-port all-Gigabit BOBCAT switch with SFP uplinks, carrying ISA12.12.01 certification for Division 2 and Zone 2 classified environments while operating from 0 to +60°C. Part number 942170032, it provides eight 10/100/1000BASE-TX RJ45 ports and four SFP slots for 100 or 1000 Mbit/s fiber modules in a 570 g PC-ABS DIN Rail housing measuring 73 x 138 x 115 mm, with an MTBF of over 3.11 million hours at 25°C. The SFP slots accept single-mode, long-haul, and multimode fiber transceivers, allowing engineers to connect the switch to distant backbone infrastructure even within the physical constraints of a hazardous area installation. The BRS40-8TX/4SFP-HL runs the full BOBCAT software feature set including IEEE 802.1Qbv TSN, HIPER-Ring and MRP (IEC62439-2) redundancy, RSTP, LACP, IGMP snooping per VLAN, QoS prioritization, and VLAN management. Industrial protocol support spans PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, IEC61850 MMS Server, and Modbus TCP. Security capabilities include 802.1X, RADIUS, secure boot, signed firmware, and DoS prevention. Power draw is 11 W from dual redundant 12–24 VDC inputs, with management via USB-C, HTML5, CLI, and SNMP v1/v2/v3. The BRS40-8TX/4SFP-HL is the right solution for standard-temperature hazardous area applications requiring compact Gigabit switching with both copper and fiber connectivity. Available from Recab, your Nordic partner for Hirschmann industrial switch solutions.
