Description
The Hirschmann BRS32-8TX/4SFP-EEC is the extended temperature variant of the BOBCAT PoE+ SFP managed switch, adding an Extended Environmental Class operating range of -40 to +70°C and a metal housing to the combination of IEEE 802.3at PoE+ inline power and flexible SFP fibre uplink connectivity. This Hirschmann switch provides 8x 10/100BASE-TX RJ45 PoE+ access ports with up to 240 W total power budget, and four SFP slots supporting 100/1000 Mbit/s in interchangeable single mode, long-haul, or multimode fibre modules — operating from a 48/54 VDC PoE supply with a maximum system consumption of 250 W. The metal DIN Rail housing and wide temperature rating make the BRS32-8TX/4SFP-EEC the right choice for network engineers deploying PoE-powered devices in outdoor enclosures, transportation infrastructure, Nordic and Arctic industrial sites, and any environment where both PoE device powering and extended temperature operation are simultaneously required alongside configurable fibre uplinks. TSN 802.1Qbv on interfaces 1/1 to 1/3 enables deterministic real-time Ethernet for time-critical control applications. PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, and IEC 61850 provide full industrial protocol coverage. Redundancy features include HIPER-Ring, MRP (IEC 62439-2) as both manager and client, RSTP, and Link Aggregation with LACP. Security includes 802.1X, RADIUS, VLAN-based ACLs, Secure Boot, and signed firmware. PoE Fast Startup and manual power management allow sequenced device powering.
