BRS20-8TX/2FX – TSN Managed DIN Rail Switch by Hirschmann

The Hirschmann BRS20-8TX/2FX is a compact managed industrial Ethernet switch from the BOBCAT series, designed for engineers requiring real-time TSN-capable networking on DIN Rail. It delivers 10 ports including 8x Fast Ethernet RJ45 and 2x 100BASE-FX multimode fibre uplinks, with TSN 802.1Qbv support, PROFINET, Modbus TCP, and EtherNet/IP protocols. Operating from 0 to +60°C with full RSTP and HIPER-Ring redundancy, it suits factory automation and industrial control applications. Available from Recab, your Nordic partner for Hirschmann managed industrial switch solutions.
Description
The Hirschmann BRS20-8TX/2FX is a fanless, DIN Rail-mounted managed industrial Ethernet switch from the Hirschmann BOBCAT series, purpose-built to support real-time communication in demanding industrial environments. Offering 10 ports in total — 8x 10/100BASE-TX RJ45 and 2x 100BASE-FX multimode SC fibre uplinks with reach up to 5000 m on 50/125 µm fibre — the BRS20-8TX/2FX provides the flexible, high-availability network backbone that modern industrial installations require. A defining capability of this Hirschmann switch is its support for Time-Sensitive Networking via TSN 802.1Qbv on ports 1/1 through 1/3, enabling deterministic, low-latency Ethernet communication for time-critical control loops. The switch is fully managed, supporting PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, and IEC 61850, making it immediately compatible with the leading industrial automation protocols used in manufacturing, process control, and energy infrastructure. Redundancy is comprehensive, with HIPER-Ring, MRP (IEC 62439-2), RSTP, Link Aggregation with LACP, and Redundant Network Coupling all supported. Security features include 802.1X port-based access control, RADIUS authentication, VLAN-based ACLs, Secure Boot, signed firmware, and DoS prevention. Local management and device replacement is handled via USB-C, and configuration can be automated via BOOTP/DHCP with AutoConfiguration Adapter support. Operating across 0 to +60°C with an MTBF exceeding 2.28 million hours, the BRS20-8TX/2FX is well suited to factory automation, machine building, building automation, and industrial process control environments. Available from Recab, your Nordic partner for Hirschmann managed industrial switch solutions.
