Description
The Hirschmann BRS20-8TX/2FX-SM is a single mode fibre variant of the BOBCAT managed industrial Ethernet switch, designed for engineers and network architects who need to connect industrial sites across long distances without signal repeaters. Its two 100BASE-FX single mode SC fibre uplinks support cable runs of up to 32.5 km on 9/125 µm fibre with a 16 dB link budget at 1300 nm, making the BRS20-8TX/2FX-SM well suited to campus-scale industrial networks, geographically distributed production facilities, utility substations, and infrastructure projects requiring extended reach fibre connectivity. The switch provides 10 ports in total — 8x 10/100BASE-TX RJ45 alongside the two SM fibre uplinks — in a fanless, DIN Rail-mounted housing with IP30 protection and operating temperature of 0 to +60°C. TSN 802.1Qbv on interfaces 1/1 to 1/3 delivers deterministic, low-latency communication for time-sensitive industrial control, while industrial protocol support spans PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, and IEC 61850.
