Hirschmann BOBCAT BRS20-4TX-EEC – Wide-Temp Compact 4-Port TSN Switch

The Hirschmann BOBCAT BRS20-4TX-EEC is a compact wide-temperature managed industrial Fast Ethernet switch delivering 4x 10/100BASE-TX RJ45 ports and TSN 802.1Qbv support in a 57 mm wide fanless DIN rail housing rated from -40 to +70°C. Manufactured by Hirschmann, it is the extended temperature variant of the entry-level BOBCAT switch, suited to distributed field nodes in railway, outdoor, and harsh industrial environments where space is limited and thermal resilience is critical. Available from Recab, your Nordic partner for Hirschmann industrial switch solutions.
Description
The Hirschmann BOBCAT BRS20-4TX-EEC is the extended temperature variant of Hirschmann’s most compact managed Fast Ethernet BOBCAT switch, providing 4x 10/100BASE-TX RJ45 ports in a 57 mm wide fanless DIN rail housing capable of operating across -40 to +70°C — the full BOBCAT EEC temperature range in the smallest available form factor. Manufactured by Hirschmann, a Belden brand, the BRS20-4TX-EEC is designed for distributed field nodes, remote I/O cabinets, and network edge positions in railway rolling stock and wayside systems, outdoor energy infrastructure, transportation equipment, and harsh industrial plant across Nordic and Baltic environments. Despite its minimal footprint, it delivers the complete BOBCAT managed switch feature set including TSN 802.1Qbv deterministic real-time Ethernet on interfaces 1/1 to 1/3, full PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, and IEC61850 protocol support, and comprehensive redundancy via HIPER-Ring, MRP (IEC62439-2) as client and manager, RSTP, LACP, Link Backup, and Redundant Network Coupling. Dual redundant 12 to 24 VDC power inputs and USB-C local management complement the fanless design, with only 5 W power consumption making it well suited to battery-backed and energy-constrained applications. Security capabilities include Secure Boot, signed firmware, 802.1X port access control, RADIUS authentication, VLAN-based ACLs, and DoS prevention. Vibration compliance per IEC 60068-2-6 and shock compliance per IEC 60068-2-27, combined with an MTBF exceeding 5.8 million hours and a 60-month guarantee, confirm the BRS20-4TX-EEC as a highly reliable long-lifecycle solution for the most demanding compact field installations. Available from Recab, your Nordic partner for Hirschmann industrial switch solutions.
