The Hirschmann BOBCAT BRS20-4TX/2SFP-EEC-HL combines the full set of environmental and regulatory qualifications in one compact BOBCAT SFP-uplink switch: ISA12.12.01 hazardous location certification, -40 to +70°C extended temperature operation, and two interchangeable 100 Mbit/s SFP uplink slots supporting single-mode, long-haul single-mode, and multimode fiber types. Manufactured by Hirschmann, a Belden brand, it is engineered for network engineers who must deploy compact fiber-capable managed switching within or adjacent to Ex-classified zones in oil and gas processing facilities, offshore production platforms, petrochemical plants, and remote outdoor process infrastructure where temperature extremes compound the challenge of hazardous area compliance. The SFP uplink flexibility allows selection of the optimal fiber type and distance module at each site without switching hardware, a practical benefit in large or diverse process facility networks. TSN 802.1Qbv on interfaces 1/1 to 1/3 enables deterministic real-time Ethernet, and PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, and IEC61850 support provides direct DCS, PLC, and SCADA compatibility. Redundancy spans HIPER-Ring, MRP (IEC62439-2) as both client and manager, RSTP, LACP, Link Backup, and Redundant Network Coupling. Security features include Secure Boot, signed firmware, 802.1X, RADIUS, VLAN-based ACLs, and DoS prevention.
