The Hirschmann BOBCAT BRS20-4TX/2FX-SM-HL is the standard-temperature hazardous location variant of Hirschmann’s compact 6-port single-mode fiber managed Fast Ethernet BOBCAT switch, certified to ISA12.12.01 for deployment within or adjacent to Ex-classified zones in oil and gas processing, offshore platforms, petrochemical facilities, and chemical manufacturing environments. Manufactured by Hirschmann, a Belden brand, it combines 4x 10/100BASE-TX RJ45 copper ports with two 100BASE-FX single-mode SC fiber uplinks reaching up to 32.5 km on 9/125 µm single-mode fiber with a 16 dB link budget, making it the right choice when a hazardous area field node must also serve as a long-haul fiber backbone connection point across large process facilities or remote outdoor infrastructure. The switch is housed in a 57 mm wide fanless PC-ABS DIN rail enclosure rated to IP30 and 0 to +60°C, drawing only 7 W from dual redundant 12 to 24 VDC power inputs — practical for Ex-zone installations where heat generation and power availability are constrained. TSN 802.1Qbv support across interfaces 1/1 to 1/3 delivers deterministic real-time Ethernet communication, and the full industrial protocol suite — PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, IEC61850 — ensures compatibility with DCS, PLC, and SCADA platforms across the process industries.
