The Hirschmann BOBCAT BRS20-4TX/2FX-EEC is the extended temperature variant of Hirschmann’s compact 6-port multimode fiber managed Fast Ethernet BOBCAT switch, combining a -40 to +70°C operating range with two 100BASE-FX multimode SC fiber uplinks reaching up to 5,000 m on 50/125 µm fiber and 4,000 m on 62.5/125 µm fiber. Manufactured by Hirschmann, a Belden brand, it is designed for distributed field nodes in railway rolling stock and wayside systems, outdoor substations, wind energy control systems, and heavy industrial plant across Nordic and Baltic climates, where both thermal extremes and inter-cabinet or inter-building fiber connectivity must be addressed in a single compact DIN rail device. The switch provides 4x 10/100BASE-TX RJ45 copper ports alongside the two multimode SC fiber uplinks in a 57 mm wide fanless PC-ABS DIN rail housing with IP30 protection, dual redundant 12 to 24 VDC power inputs, and USB-C local management, drawing only 7 W. TSN 802.1Qbv support on interfaces 1/1 to 1/3 delivers deterministic real-time Ethernet communication across both copper and fiber segments, while the industrial protocol suite — PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, IEC61850 — ensures compatibility with PLCs, SCADA systems, and protection relays across automation, energy, and transportation sectors.
