The Hirschmann RSP20-8TX/3SFP-2A is a managed DIN rail industrial Fast Ethernet switch delivering eight 10/100 Mbit/s copper RJ45 ports and three SFP fibre slots within a compact 90 x 164 x 120 mm fanless enclosure, and represents the most feature-rich variant in the RSP20 series, running an extended HiOS Layer 2 software stack with capabilities beyond the standard RSP20 platform. In addition to the PRP per IEC 62439-3, HSR, MRP, RSTP, and LACP redundancy protocols common to the RSP20 series, the RSP20-8TX/3SFP-2A adds MSTP per 802.1Q, HIPER-Ring ring switch functionality, HIPER-Ring over link aggregation, MRP over link aggregation, redundant network coupling, and Sub Ring Manager, covering the most complex multi-ring and coupled topology scenarios encountered in large industrial and process automation networks. The advanced switching stack adds QinQ double VLAN tagging, GARP MVRP/GMRP, IP subnet-based VLAN, MAC-based VLAN, protocol-based VLAN, IP ingress DiffServ classification and policing, and IP DiffServ-based ACLs for fine-grained traffic management. Management is extended with OPC-UA server support, ITxPT module inventory for public transport applications, service discovery via Bonjour, DNS client, and SFLOW, RSPAN, VLAN mirroring, and loop protection in diagnostics. The security stack adds LDAP, dynamic ARP inspection, DHCP snooping, MAC authentication bypass, multi-client authentication per port, ingress IPv4 and MAC-based ACLs, RADIUS policy assignment, and time-based ACL for comprehensive zero-trust access control. PTPv2 and 802.1AS time synchronisation, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, and IEC 61850 industrial profiles complete the specification. Certified to CE, FCC, EN61131, and cUL508.
