Description
The Hirschmann IT MTS8006-Chassis is the mid-size 11U rack mount modular chassis of the MAMMUTHUS MTS8000 series, expanding the MTS8003 platform with 4 media module slots and the addition of 2 dedicated switch fabric unit slots for internal switching capacity that scales with the installed media module population, making it the appropriate platform for data centre and campus core deployments that require greater port density and throughput than the 3-slot MTS8003 chassis can accommodate. The chassis houses 2 engine slots for fully redundant hot-swappable processing engines, 4 media module slots for interchangeable line cards covering copper, fibre, 10G, and higher-speed interfaces, 2 switch fabric unit slots for dedicated internal fabric modules that distribute switching capacity across all media slots, and up to 4 modular redundant hot-swappable PSUs for N+1 or N+N power redundancy. Two mandatory modular redundant fan trays ensure continuous thermal management without any planned service interruption. At 441 x 488 x 434.8 mm and 26.8 kg empty chassis weight, the MTS8006-Chassis occupies 11U of standard rack space and accepts 100 to 240 VAC input. CE, FCC, Common Criteria EAL 2+, CCC, and RoHS approvals confirm broad international compliance.
