Description
The Hirschmann IT MTS8003-Chassis is the compact 6U rack mount modular chassis of the MAMMUTHUS MTS8000 series, providing a scalable and highly available hardware foundation for building high-performance Layer 3 core switch infrastructure in data centres, campus backbones, and large industrial IT networks. The chassis accommodates 2 engine slots for dual redundant processing engines that can be hot-swapped without network interruption, and 3 media module slots for interchangeable line cards carrying a range of copper, fibre, 10G, and 40G interface options, allowing the switch to be configured and reconfigured as bandwidth requirements evolve over time. Up to 4 modular redundant PSUs can be installed and hot-swapped in any combination from a minimum of 1 to a maximum of 4, providing N+1 or N+N power redundancy to match the criticality of the deployment. Two mandatory modular redundant fan trays are hot-swappable for continuous thermal management without planned downtime. The 440 x 266 x 430 mm chassis weighs 16.2 kg empty and accepts 100 to 240 VAC input. EMC compliance covers EN 61000-4-2 through EN 61000-4-11 interference immunity standards and EN 55032 Class A emission, with CE, FCC, Common Criteria EAL 2+, CCC, and RoHS approvals. Engines, media modules, switch fabric, hybrid cards, PSUs, and fan trays are all ordered separately, allowing precise configuration for each deployment.
