MSM50-4SFP – 4-Port 2.5 Gigabit SFP Media Module by Hirschmann

The Hirschmann MSM50-4SFP is a hot-swappable 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet media module for PowerMICE MSP switches, providing four 1000/2500 Mbit/s SFP ports for single mode and multimode fiber connections via compatible Hirschmann 2.5G SFP transceivers. Backplane-powered at 4W with IEC 60068 vibration and shock ratings and a 60-month guarantee, it is designed for industrial networks requiring a bandwidth step-up beyond standard Gigabit while retaining the modular flexibility of the PowerMICE platform. Available from Recab, your Nordic partner for Hirschmann industrial networking solutions.
Description
The Hirschmann MSM50-4SFP is a 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet media module for the Hirschmann PowerMICE MSP modular industrial switch platform, equipping network engineers with four SFP ports operating at 1000 or 2500 Mbit/s for scalable bandwidth on industrial fiber networks. Each port is compatible with Hirschmann’s M-SFP-2.5-SM-/LC EEC transceivers for single mode 9/125 µm fiber links and M-SFP-2.5-MM/LC EEC transceivers for multimode fiber on both 50/125 µm and 62.5/125 µm cable types, giving system designers a flexible choice of fiber media at 2.5 Gigabit speeds. The 2.5GbE speed tier is particularly relevant in networks that have outgrown standard Gigabit bandwidth but do not require full 10GbE infrastructure investment, making the MSM50-4SFP a cost-effective migration path for high-throughput industrial Ethernet environments. As a hot-swappable PowerMICE backplane module, it can be inserted or removed from the MSP switch without operational interruption, and any combination of media modules can populate available switch slots. Backplane power supply at 4W requires no separate cabling and the module weighs 195g without transceivers. Diagnostic LEDs for power, mode, and link/data status support rapid fault identification. Operating temperature spans 0 to 60°C with storage to -40°C, and the module complies with IEC 60068-2-6 vibration, IEC 60068-2-27 shock, and the full EN 61000-4 series EMC immunity standards alongside EN 55032 Class A emissions. Approvals include EN61131, UL60950, cUL508, NEMA TS2, and C-Tick. A 60-month guarantee supports long-term deployment in industrial automation, energy, and infrastructure networks.
