MSM40-4C-CE – Gigabit Combo SFP Media Module for PowerMICE by Hirschmann

The Hirschmann MSM40-4C-CE is a hot-swappable Gigabit Ethernet media module for PowerMICE MSP switches, providing four Gigabit combo ports that accept SFP transceivers for single mode, long-haul, or multimode fiber connections. Compatible with M-SFP-SX/LC, M-SFP-LX/LC, M-SFP-LH/LC, and M-SFP-LH+/LC transceivers, it delivers maximum media flexibility for industrial and infrastructure networks. Backplane-powered at 5W with IEC 60068 mechanical compliance and a 60-month guarantee, it is purpose-built for Gigabit fiber expansion on the PowerMICE platform. Available from Recab, your Nordic partner for Hirschmann industrial networking solutions.
Description
The Hirschmann MSM40-4C-CE is a Gigabit Ethernet media module designed for the Hirschmann PowerMICE MSP modular industrial switch platform, delivering four hot-swappable Gigabit combo ports that accept standard SFP transceivers to support a broad range of fiber media types and reach distances. The CE variant of the MSM40-4C shares the same functional architecture and transceiver compatibility, supporting M-SFP-SX/LC transceivers for multimode short-range links, M-SFP-LX/LC for both single mode and multimode medium-range connections, M-SFP-LH/LC for long-haul single mode spans, and M-SFP-LH+/LC for extended long-haul single mode distances. This SFP-based design means media upgrades are handled at transceiver level without replacing the module itself, protecting the hardware investment as network requirements evolve. As with all PowerMICE media modules, the MSM40-4C-CE is hot-swappable and can be installed or removed without interrupting switch operation, and any combination of media modules can populate available MSP switch slots to achieve the required port density and media mix. Backplane power supply operates at just 5W and the module weighs 214g without SFP transceivers. Diagnostic LEDs for power, mode, and link/data status enable rapid fault identification. The module operates from 0 to 60°C with storage down to -40°C, and meets IEC 60068-2-6 vibration and IEC 60068-2-27 shock standards. EMC compliance covers the full EN 61000-4 series immunity requirements and EN 55032 Class A emissions, with approvals including EN61131, EN 60950, NEMA TS2, and C-Tick. A 60-month guarantee supports long-term deployment confidence in automation, energy, rail, and infrastructure applications built on the Hirschmann PowerMICE platform.
