MSM40-4C – 4-Port Gigabit Combo SFP Media Module by Hirschmann

The Hirschmann MSM40-4C is a hot-swappable Gigabit Ethernet media module for PowerMICE MSP switches, providing four Gigabit combo ports that accept SFP transceivers for single mode, long-haul, or multimode fiber connections. Compatible with M-SFP-SX/LC, M-SFP-LX/LC, M-SFP-LH/LC, and M-SFP-LH+/LC transceivers, it offers maximum media flexibility for demanding industrial, energy, and infrastructure networks. Backplane-powered at 5W with full IEC 60068 mechanical compliance and a 60-month guarantee, it is ideal for Gigabit fiber expansion on the PowerMICE platform. Available from Recab, your Nordic partner for Hirschmann industrial networking solutions.
Description
The Hirschmann MSM40-4C is a Gigabit Ethernet media module for the Hirschmann PowerMICE MSP modular switch platform, equipping network engineers with four hot-swappable Gigabit combo ports that accept standard SFP transceivers to support a wide range of fiber media types and reach requirements. Each port accepts M-SFP-SX/LC transceivers for multimode short-range links, M-SFP-LX/LC for both single mode and multimode medium-range connections, M-SFP-LH/LC for long-haul single mode spans, and M-SFP-LH+/LC for extended long-haul single mode distances, giving system designers full flexibility to mix fiber types and reach within a single module. This SFP-based architecture allows the MSM40-4C to be adapted to future network changes simply by swapping transceivers rather than replacing the module. As with all PowerMICE media modules, the MSM40-4C is hot-swappable, meaning it can be installed or removed from the MSP switch under power without service interruption, and any combination of media modules can populate available switch slots. Backplane power supply operates at 5W and the module weighs 214g without SFP transceivers. Diagnostic LEDs for power, mode, and link/data support rapid fault identification. The module operates from 0 to 60°C with storage down to -40°C and meets IEC 60068-2-6 vibration and IEC 60068-2-27 shock standards. EMC compliance spans EN 61000-4 series immunity and EN 55032 Class A emissions, with approvals including EN61131, UL60950, cUL508, NEMA TS2, and C-Tick. A 60-month guarantee supports long-term reliability in industrial networking projects across automation, energy, rail, and infrastructure sectors.
