The Hirschmann IT MTS2724-6X-MP-E is a MAMMUTHUS series Layer 3 Gigabit Ethernet switch that combines high-power PoE and PoE+ device delivery with full Layer 3 routing and data centre networking capabilities in a compact 1U rack chassis. The switch provides 24 FE/GE PoE/PoE+ ports for powering IP cameras, wireless access points, VoIP devices, and IoT field equipment, with a maximum PoE budget of up to 1520W when configured with two PSU880 modules, or 380W with a single PSU500, providing exceptional power delivery flexibility for large-scale PoE deployments. Four 1/10G SFP+ uplink slots and an optional extended line card slot for two additional 1/10G SFP+ interfaces provide high-speed backbone connectivity. The enhanced software suite covers Layer 2 switching with 4K VLAN support, QinQ, STP/RSTP/MSTP, link aggregation, RSPAN, and GVRP; Layer 3 routing with static routes, RIPv1/v2, OSPF, BGP, IS-IS, RIPng, and OSPFv3 for IPv6; multicast with IGMPv1/v2/v3 snooping, PIM-DM, PIM-SM, PIM-SSM, and MLD; and QoS with SP, WRR, and SP+WRR scheduling alongside WRED congestion avoidance. Security includes IPv4/v6 ACL, 802.1X, RADIUS, TACACS+, SSH, DHCP snooping, dynamic ARP inspection, IP source guard, URPF, and attack protection against SYN flood, LAND, Smurf, and Ping of Death.
