Description
The Hirschmann BOBCAT BRS42-12TX-EEC is the Extended Environmental Class PoE+ variant of the BOBCAT all-Gigabit managed switch series, combining twelve 10/100/1000BASE-TX RJ45 ports — eight with IEEE 802.3at PoE+ capability — with a hardened metal DIN Rail housing rated from -40 to +70°C. Part number 942170100, it provides up to 240 W total PoE budget from dual redundant 48/54 VDC inputs at a maximum power draw of 252 W, enabling the powering of IP cameras, wireless access points, sensors, and other PoE-compatible industrial devices even in outdoor, railway, and extreme-temperature environments. This makes it one of very few managed PoE+ switches capable of operating across the EEC temperature range with full industrial protocol and TSN support. As part of the Hirschmann BOBCAT TSN platform, the BRS42-12TX-EEC supports IEEE 802.1Qbv for deterministic real-time Ethernet alongside PoE Fast Startup and manual power management. The full switching stack includes HIPER-Ring and MRP (IEC62439-2) redundancy, RSTP, LACP, IGMP snooping, QoS, and VLAN management. Industrial protocols cover PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, IEC61850 MMS Server, and Modbus TCP. Security features include 802.1X, RADIUS, secure boot, signed firmware, and DoS prevention.
