BRS40-8TX – Compact All-Gigabit TSN Managed DIN Rail Switch by Hirschmann

The Hirschmann BOBCAT BRS40-8TX is a compact fanless all-Gigabit managed industrial DIN Rail switch with eight 10/100/1000BASE-TX RJ45 ports, consuming just 8 W and weighing only 500 g. Supporting TSN 802.1Qbv, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, and HIPER-Ring redundancy in a small PC-ABS housing, it is ideal for space-constrained machine and automation cabinet installations. Available from Recab, your Nordic partner for Hirschmann industrial switch solutions.
Description
The Hirschmann BOBCAT BRS40-8TX is the smallest and most compact member of the BOBCAT all-Gigabit managed switch family, providing eight 10/100/1000BASE-TX RJ45 ports on a DIN Rail-mounted PC-ABS housing that measures just 73 x 138 x 115 mm and weighs 500 g. Part number 942170008, it is engineered for space-constrained machine cabinets, compact automation panels, and edge device clusters where full-featured managed Gigabit switching is required without the footprint of a larger unit. Despite its compact size, the BRS40-8TX delivers the complete BOBCAT software feature set including IEEE 802.1Qbv Time-Sensitive Networking, HIPER-Ring and MRP (IEC62439-2) redundancy, RSTP, LACP, IGMP snooping per VLAN, QoS port prioritization, and comprehensive VLAN management. Industrial protocol support includes PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, IEC61850 MMS Server, and Modbus TCP, ensuring full compatibility with leading automation platforms. Security capabilities encompass 802.1X port-based access control, RADIUS authentication, secure boot, signed firmware, DoS prevention, and VLAN-based ACL. The fanless design operates from 0 to +60°C and draws only 8 W from dual redundant 12–24 VDC inputs — the lowest power consumption in the BRS40 range. USB-C management and AutoConfiguration Adapter support allow zero-touch device replacement. With an MTBF of over 3.19 million hours at 25°C, the BRS40-8TX delivers exceptional long-term reliability for compact machine networking, edge automation, and small-format industrial switching applications. Available from Recab, your Nordic partner for Hirschmann industrial switch solutions.
