BRS30-8TX/4SFP-HL – Hazardous Location SFP Switch by Hirschmann

The Hirschmann BRS30-8TX/4SFP-HL is a hazardous location certified managed industrial Ethernet switch from the BOBCAT series, combining ISA12.12.01 approval for deployment in explosive atmosphere environments with the flexibility of four SFP fibre uplink slots and the outstanding long-term reliability of an MTBF exceeding 4.32 million hours. It provides 8x 10/100BASE-TX RJ45 access ports and four SFP slots — arranged as two dual-SFP uplinks supporting 100/1000 Mbit/s in interchangeable single mode, long-haul, or multimode SFP modules — in a compact fanless DIN Rail housing operating from 0 to +60°C with IP30 protection. This Hirschmann switch is designed for oil refineries, gas processing plants, chemical facilities, and other industrial sites where hazardous area compliance is required and the network topology demands flexible, configurable fibre reach rather than fixed-distance fixed-type uplinks. TSN 802.1Qbv on interfaces 1/1 to 1/3 enables deterministic real-time Ethernet for time-sensitive process control applications. The BRS30-8TX/4SFP-HL supports PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, and IEC 61850 across its full industrial protocol stack. Redundancy is provided through HIPER-Ring, MRP (IEC 62439-2) as both manager and client, RSTP, Link Aggregation with LACP, and Redundant Network Coupling. Security includes 802.1X, RADIUS, VLAN-based ACLs, Secure Boot, and signed firmware, with USB-C local management for fast, disruption-free commissioning.
