The Hirschmann M-SFP-TX/RJ45 is a Gigabit Ethernet SFP TX transceiver that converts an SFP slot on a Hirschmann industrial switch into a standard RJ45 Gigabit copper port, providing network engineers with a flexible and cost-effective method of adding 1000 Mbit/s copper connectivity without replacing or adding fixed-port switching hardware. Operating at 1000 Mbit/s full duplex with fixed auto-negotiation over standard twisted pair copper up to 100 m via an RJ45 socket, the M-SFP-TX/RJ45 is compatible with Cat5e and higher cabling in industrial control rooms, distribution cabinets, and automation enclosures. Note that cable crossing is not supported, so straight-through cabling is required for all connections. The transceiver draws 1.2W from the host switch via the SFP slot and provides integrated diagnostics for optical input and output power levels and transceiver temperature monitoring through the switch management interface, supporting visibility across Hirschmann’s network management platforms. The standard 14 x 14 x 70 mm SFP housing and 34g weight ensure compatibility with all Hirschmann switches featuring standard SFP slots. IEC 60068-2-6 vibration and IEC 60068-2-27 shock ratings confirm mechanical robustness, while the MTBF of 658 years at 25°C provides high long-term deployment reliability. Operating temperature is 0°C to +60°C; for extended temperature range or auto-crossing requirements, the M-SFP-TX/RJ45 EEC variant should be considered.
