The Hirschmann M-SFP-SX/LC is an SFP fiberoptic Gigabit Ethernet transceiver designed for multimode fibre short-wavelength connections in industrial switches with Gigabit SFP slots, delivering full 1000 Mbit/s performance over installed multimode fibre infrastructure within buildings, production halls, and campus environments. Operating at 850 nm, the transceiver achieves a reach of up to 550 m on 50/125 µm multimode fibre with a link budget of 0 to 7.5 dB and a bandwidth length product of 400 MHz*km, or up to 275 m on 62.5/125 µm multimode fibre with the same link budget, covering typical intra-building and adjacent-building fibre link distances in industrial networks. The LC duplex connector is compatible with standard multimode fibre patch panels and pigtails, making integration into existing infrastructure straightforward. Powered from the host switch via the SFP slot at 1W, the M-SFP-SX/LC provides integrated diagnostics for optical input and output power levels and transceiver temperature, supporting switch management platforms such as Hirschmann’s HiVision. The standard 13.4 x 8.5 x 56.5 mm SFP form factor and 30g weight ensure broad compatibility with all Hirschmann GREYHOUND, OCTOPUS, and other SFP-capable industrial switch platforms. With laser Class 1 safety per IEC 60825-1, IEC 60068-2-6 vibration and shock ratings, and an MTBF of 610 years, the M-SFP-SX/LC is a dependable Gigabit fibre connectivity component for industrial network expansion.
