Description
The Hirschmann M-FAST SFP-TX/RJ45 is an SFP TX Fast Ethernet transceiver that converts an SFP slot on a Hirschmann industrial switch into a standard RJ45 copper port, enabling network engineers to add Fast Ethernet copper connectivity without requiring a dedicated copper-port switch or additional hardware. Operating at 100 Mbit/s full duplex with fixed auto-negotiation, the transceiver connects to standard Cat5 or better twisted pair copper cabling up to 100 m via a standard RJ45 socket, making it directly compatible with all common copper infrastructure. Note that cable crossing is not supported, meaning straight-through cabling is required between the transceiver and connected devices. The M-FAST SFP-TX/RJ45 is powered entirely by the host switch via the SFP slot at just 1W, introducing no external power complexity, and provides optical input and output power and temperature diagnostics via the switch management interface. The 14 x 14 x 70 mm housing conforms to standard SFP mechanical dimensions and is rated IP20 for use in clean indoor environments. IEC 60068-2-6 vibration and IEC 60068-2-27 shock certifications confirm physical robustness, and the MTBF of 1703 years makes this one of the most reliable copper SFP transceivers in Hirschmann’s portfolio.
