Description
The Hirschmann M-FAST SFP-MM/LC is a fiberoptic Fast Ethernet transceiver module built for industrial network engineers who need dependable 100 Mbit/s fiber connectivity over multimode links in demanding automation and infrastructure environments. Manufactured by Hirschmann, a Belden brand and a recognised name in industrial networking, the M-FAST SFP-MM/LC fits any standard SFP-slot-equipped switch or media converter and connects via an LC duplex connector. On 50/125 µm multimode fiber the transceiver supports link distances up to 5000 m, while on 62.5/125 µm multimode fiber distances up to 4000 m are achievable, making it a practical choice for campus-scale industrial networks, large production facilities, and building automation backbones. The module draws only 1 W of power, supplied directly by the host switch, and provides onboard diagnostics covering optical input and output power as well as transceiver temperature, enabling proactive monitoring of fiber link health. Mechanical robustness is confirmed through IEC 60068-2-6 vibration testing and IEC 60068-2-27 shock testing at 15 g for 11 ms duration across 18 shocks, while EMC immunity is certified to EN 61000-4-2 through EN 61000-4-6. With an MTBF of 514 years calculated to Telcordia SR-332 at 25 °C and laser safety rated Class 1 to IEC 60825-1, the M-FAST SFP-MM/LC delivers the long-term reliability expected of Hirschmann industrial networking components in process automation, water and wastewater, energy distribution, and intelligent transport infrastructure.
