Description
The Hirschmann M-FAST SFP-TX/RJ45 EEC is a copper-media Fast Ethernet transceiver in SFP form factor, designed to give industrial network engineers the flexibility to use standard RJ45 twisted pair connections in the SFP expansion slots of Hirschmann switches and compatible third-party devices. Manufactured by Hirschmann, a Belden brand and trusted name in industrial networking, the M-FAST SFP-TX/RJ45 EEC supports 100 Mbit/s full duplex operation over twisted pair cable at distances up to 100 m, making it ideal for short-reach copper connections within control cabinets, switchrooms, and industrial Ethernet panels. The extended temperature version operates reliably from -40 °C to +70 °C, making it practical for use in outdoor enclosures, railway lineside equipment cabinets, and industrial environments subject to significant seasonal temperature swings. It consumes only 1 W of power supplied by the host switch and provides integrated diagnostics for power and transceiver temperature monitoring. Auto-negotiation is fixed at full duplex, and cable crossing is not supported, which should be considered during installation planning. The exceptional MTBF of 1703 years calculated to Telcordia SR-332 at 25 °C reflects the reliability engineering behind this transceiver, while shock resistance to 15 g at 11 ms per IEC 60068-2-27 and full EN 61000-4 EMC compliance confirm its suitability for the most demanding industrial settings.
