Description
The Hirschmann M-FAST SFP-SM/LC EEC is a single mode fiberoptic Fast Ethernet transceiver purpose-built for industrial network engineers who need reliable 100 Mbit/s connectivity over long distances in environments where temperature extremes are a routine challenge. Manufactured by Hirschmann, a Belden brand with decades of industrial networking expertise, the M-FAST SFP-SM/LC EEC slots into any standard SFP-equipped switch or converter and connects via an LC duplex connector. On 9/125 µm single mode fiber, the transceiver achieves a maximum link distance of 25 km at 1310 nm with a link budget of 0–13 dB, making it well suited to wide-area plant networks, inter-building connections, substation communications, and geographically distributed automation infrastructure. The extended temperature rating of -40 °C to +85 °C operating and storage covers the full range encountered in outdoor enclosures, rail-side cabinets, and arctic industrial deployments. Power consumption is just 1 W drawn from the host switch, and integrated diagnostics report optical input and output power levels alongside transceiver temperature to support preventive maintenance.
