CloudRail.Box Max 4G – Industrial IIoT Edge Gateway with LTE by Hirschmann

The Hirschmann CloudRail.Box Max 4G is a powerful DIN rail-mounted industrial IoT edge gateway combining Intel Atom x6413E processing, 8GB LPDDR4 RAM, 220GB storage, and 4G LTE cellular connectivity for advanced edge computing in remote or network-restricted industrial environments. Supporting OPC-UA, Modbus, secondary sensors, and VSEs alongside AWS IoT Greengrass v2 and Azure IoT Edge, it bridges the shop floor and cloud with integrated security via TPM 2.0 and end-to-end encrypted connectivity. Available from Recab, your Nordic partner for Hirschmann IIoT gateway solutions.
Description
The Hirschmann CloudRail.Box Max 4G is an advanced industrial IoT edge gateway from the CloudRail.Box series, designed to serve as a powerful and secure bridge between shop floor data sources and cloud platforms including AWS IoT Greengrass v2, Azure IoT Edge, and the Hirschmann CloudRail Edge Functions environment. Powered by an Intel Atom x6413E processor with 8GB LPDDR4 RAM and 220GB of free storage for container and application data, the CloudRail.Box Max 4G has sufficient compute and memory resources to run complex edge workloads, containerised AI inference tasks, and multi-source data aggregation pipelines directly at the edge. The defining feature over the standard CloudRail.Box Max is the integrated 4G LTE cellular module with a Nano-SIM slot, enabling deployment in remote factory locations, mobile industrial assets, or environments where connecting through a restricted corporate IT network is not feasible. Three 2.5GbE RJ45 ports via Intel I226-IT provide wired LAN connectivity, while the RS-485 and optional RS-232 serial interfaces, along with HDMI, complete the interface set. All supported CloudRail connectivity methods are available on the Max 4G, including secondary sensors, OPC-UA, Modbus, and VSE integration, making it capable of aggregating data from a wide range of field devices with a single edge gateway unit. Security is handled through an integrated firewall, TPM 2.0, end-to-end encrypted connectivity, and remote security patching via the CloudRail.DMC cloud management platform. The DIN rail-mounted steel and aluminium housing operates at -20°C to +60°C on 12–24V DC and holds CE, FCC, and UL 62368-1 approvals. Available from Recab, your Nordic partner for Hirschmann IIoT gateway solutions.
