SOM-5899 – COM Express Basic Type 6 Module by Advantech

The Advantech SOM-5899 is a powerful COM Express Basic Type 6 module designed for demanding embedded computing applications requiring high processing power and flexible I/O capabilities. Built on Intel’s 9th and 8th generation Xeon E-2276ME, E-2176M, Core i7-9850HE, i7-8850H, Core i5-8400H, Core i3-9100HL, i3-8100H, and Celeron G4930E processors, this module delivers exceptional performance with up to 6 cores and turbo frequencies reaching 4.5GHz. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 610/630/P630 supports three independent symmetrical displays with resolutions up to 4K through configurable DDI ports supporting HDMI, DVI, and DisplayPort, plus LVDS or eDP options. Memory support includes dual-channel DDR4 2666MHz via two SO-DIMM sockets with maximum capacity of 64GB, or optionally 96GB with three SO-DIMM configuration at DDR4 2133MHz, with ECC support available on specific SKUs for mission-critical applications. The SOM-5899 provides comprehensive high-speed I/O including 4 USB 3.1 Gen2 ports at 10Gbps, 8 USB 2.0 ports, 4 SATA 3.0 ports at 6Gbps, and flexible PCIe connectivity with one x16 Gen3 slot configurable as dual x8 or x8 plus dual x4 configurations, alongside 8 additional PCIe x1 Gen3 lanes. Additional features include Intel I219 Gigabit Ethernet, Intel HD Audio, dual COM ports with optional CAN bus, I2C, SMBus, 8-bit GPIO with optional SD card support, TPM 2.0 security, and smart fan control. The module supports wide input voltage from 8.5V to 20V in ATX or AT mode. Operating temperature ranges from standard 0 to 60°C to extended -40 to 85°C for harsh environments, with 3.5 Grms vibration resistance.
