Description
The Kontron AL Pi-Tron CM4 is an enhanced industrial DIN rail computer from the Kontron Automation-Line series, built around the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 to deliver significantly improved processing capability, connectivity, and display output compared to its CM3+ predecessor, while retaining full access to the extensive Raspberry Pi software ecosystem and developer community. Developed by Kontron as an official Raspberry Pi Design Partner, the AL Pi-Tron CM4 houses the Broadcom BCM2711 quad-core Cortex-A72 processor at 1.5GHz with H.265 decode up to 4Kp60, H.264 decode up to 1080p, and OpenGL ES 3.0 graphics, with memory options from 1GB to 8GB LPDDR4 and eMMC storage from 8GB to 32GB plus a microSD slot. Communication interfaces include one Gigabit Ethernet, one 10/100 Ethernet, two USB 2.0 Host, one USB 2.0 OTG, RS-232, RS-485, CAN 2.0B/FD for high-speed fieldbus communication, and four 24V digital I/O channels at up to 800mA. Optional integrated WiFi 5 at 2.4GHz and 5GHz with Bluetooth 5.0 and BLE eliminates the need for external wireless modules in wireless IoT gateway deployments. The HDMI 2.0 output supports display resolutions up to 4Kp60 for local HMI and visualisation applications alongside industrial control tasks. Additional I/O is available through Kontron multifunctional I/O modules connected via CAN bus, supporting up to 16 modules for digital, analogue, and temperature expansion. The stainless steel IP20 housing measures 111 x 25 x 76mm and mounts on standard 35mm DIN rail per EN 60715, operating from 0°C to 55°C on 24V DC at a maximum of 9.6W. CE certified.
