Description
The Kontron AL i.MX8M Plus is an intelligent edge gateway from the Kontron Automation-Line series, built for engineers deploying AI inference, IoT data processing, and sophisticated real-time control applications in control cabinet and industrial automation environments. The NXP i.MX8M Plus processor combines four Arm Cortex-A53 cores at up to 1.8GHz with a Cortex-M7 at 800MHz and a 2.3 TOPS Neural Processing Unit, enabling on-device AI inference for machine vision, predictive maintenance, and process analytics without the latency or cost of cloud processing. Memory is provided by 4GB LPDDR4 RAM and 32GB eMMC storage, with a microSD slot for additional capacity. Communication interfaces include dual 1Gbit/s Ethernet for network redundancy or segmentation, two USB 2.0 Host ports, one USB 3.0 Type-C, RS-232, RS-485, CAN FD for high-speed fieldbus communication, and four 24V digital I/O channels at up to 800mA. Display output via HDMI 2.0 supports 4K at 30fps for local visualisation and HMI applications. The platform runs embedded Linux via Yocto Distribution with U-Boot and supports comprehensive hardware security including HAB Secure Boot, TrustZone, True RNG, RSA up to 4096-bit, AES-128/192/256, and Secure JTAG. The Automation-Line can be expanded with up to 16 multifunctional I/O modules controlled via CAN bus, covering additional digital, analogue, and temperature I/O for complex automation tasks. The robust stainless steel IP20 housing measures 111 x 25 x 76mm and mounts on 35mm DIN rail per EN 60715, operating from 0°C to 55°C on 24V DC. CE certified.
