ADAM-5630 – Edge Intelligent DA&C Platform by Advantech

The Advantech ADAM-5630 is a versatile edge intelligent data acquisition and control platform designed for industrial automation and remote monitoring applications. Built on a TI Cortex-A8 AM3352 processor running at 600MHz with RT-Linux V4.9 operating system, this modular controller delivers reliable real-time performance for demanding industrial environments. The system features 512MB DDR3L memory, 128K battery-backed memory for data retention, and flexible storage options including 1GB NAND Flash and micro SD card expansion. The ADAM-5630 offers exceptional connectivity with four serial communication ports supporting RS-232 and RS-485 protocols with speeds up to 921.6 kbps, 2500 VDC isolation on three ports, and the ability to network up to 256 nodes in RS-485 daisy-chain configuration over distances up to 1.2km. Dual Gigabit Ethernet ports with RJ45 connectors provide high-speed network connectivity at 10/100/1000 Mbps. The platform supports Linux C programming and includes comprehensive embedded services such as Web Server, FTP Server, Telnet Server, SSH Server, and SNMP Server for remote management and monitoring. Available in 4-slot and 8-slot configurations, the modular design allows customisation to match specific application requirements. Built-in real-time clock, watchdog timer, VGA display output at 800×600 resolution, and dual USB 2.0 ports enhance system functionality. The rugged ABS-PC enclosure with DIN-rail or wall-mount options, wide 10-30 VDC power input with reverse protection, and extended operating temperature range of -40 to 70°C make it ideal for factory automation, process control, building automation, and remote data acquisition in harsh industrial settings.
