EKI-1528 – 8-Port Serial Device Server by Advantech

The Advantech EKI-1528 series represents a comprehensive solution for integrating RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485 serial devices into modern Ethernet networks. This industrial-grade 8-port serial device server enables seamless connectivity for CNCs, PLCs, scales, scanners, and thousands of other serial devices that require remote management and network accessibility. The device features two independent Gigabit Ethernet ports with separate MAC addresses, providing built-in network redundancy to ensure continuous operation in mission-critical environments. Supporting baud rates from 50 bps up to 921.6 kbps with any baud rate setting capability, the EKI-1528 accommodates virtually any serial communication requirement. The server offers flexible operation modes including COM port redirection for transparent legacy application support, TCP and UDP server and client modes for modern network integration, pair connection mode for peer-to-peer serial tunneling, and RFC2217 for remote serial port control. Configuration options include Windows utility, Telnet console, web browser, and serial console access. Industrial reliability is ensured through 15 KV ESD protection on all serial signals, 1.5 KV magnetic isolation on Ethernet ports, and a built-in watchdog timer with hardware reboot capability. The standard 1U rackmount enclosure with rear wiring simplifies installation in server rooms and industrial control cabinets. Wide temperature models designated with I support operation from minus 40 to 75 degrees Celsius for demanding environments.
