ADAM-5080 – 4-ch Counter/Frequency Module by Advantech

The ADAM-5080 from Advantech is a versatile 4-channel counter and frequency module engineered for programmable automation controller systems requiring precise signal counting and frequency measurement capabilities. This industrial-grade module delivers reliable performance with input frequency support up to 1,000 Hz in frequency mode and 5,000 Hz in counter mode when using TTL inputs. The 32-bit counter provides a maximum count of 4,294,967,295, ensuring ample range for demanding industrial applications. The module supports both isolated and TTL level inputs, with isolation input levels accepting logic level 0 at 1 VDC maximum and logic level 1 from 3.5 to 30 VDC. For TTL inputs, the module accepts standard logic levels of 0 to 0.8 VDC for low and 2.3 to 5 VDC for high states. With 1,000 VRMS isolation voltage, the ADAM-5080 provides robust protection against electrical interference in harsh industrial environments. The programmable digital filter function, adjustable from 1 to 65,000 microseconds, effectively suppresses noise and ensures accurate signal acquisition. Counter auxiliary functions include initial preset, high-low alarm setting, alarm digital output mapping, and overflag capabilities. Operating modes encompass counter with up/down and bi-direction functionality, as well as frequency measurement.
