ADAM-4510/4520/4521 – RS-485 I/O Modules by Advantech

The Advantech ADAM-4000 series RS-485 I/O modules deliver robust and flexible serial communication solutions for industrial automation and control applications. This product family includes the ADAM-4510 and ADAM-4510S RS-422/485 repeaters, the ADAM-4520 isolated RS-232 to RS-422/485 converter, and the ADAM-4521 addressable RS-422/485 to RS-232 converter. Each module is engineered to extend communication distances, convert between serial protocols, and provide galvanic isolation for enhanced system protection. The ADAM-4510S and ADAM-4520 feature 3,000 VDC isolation voltage for superior noise immunity in electrically harsh environments, while the ADAM-4521 provides 1,000 VDC isolation along with a built-in microprocessor and watchdog timer for intelligent data handling. All modules support comprehensive baud rates ranging from 300 bps to 115.2 kbps with switchable RS-485 2-wire or RS-422 4-wire configurations. The ADAM-4521 additionally supports independent baud rate settings for RS-232 and RS-485 sides, automatic RS-485 data flow control, and software-configurable addressable or non-addressable modes. These modules accept unregulated 10 to 30 VDC input power with built-in reversal protection, ensuring safe operation across varied power supply conditions. The wide operating temperature range of -10 to 70°C and compact DIN rail mountable design make them suitable for factory automation, building management systems, remote monitoring applications, process control systems, and industrial networking infrastructure.
