ADAM-4510/4520 – RS-422/485 Repeater & Converter by Advantech

The Advantech ADAM-4510, ADAM-4510S, and ADAM-4520 modules deliver robust serial communication capabilities for industrial environments requiring reliable data transmission over extended distances. The ADAM-4510 and ADAM-4510S are RS-422/485 repeaters that regenerate and amplify signals to extend network reach, with the ADAM-4510S variant offering 3,000 VDC isolation protection for enhanced noise immunity in electrically challenging installations. Both repeaters support automatic baud rate detection up to 115.2 kbps and can operate in either RS-485 two-wire or RS-422 four-wire configurations. The ADAM-4520 functions as an isolated RS-232 to RS-422/485 converter, enabling legacy RS-232 equipment to communicate on RS-485 or RS-422 networks. It features a DB9 female connector for RS-232 input and plug-in terminal blocks for RS-422/485 output, with switchable RTS control and multiple baud rate options from 1,200 to 115,200 bps. All modules incorporate power reversal protection and accept unregulated DC input voltages, making them suitable for diverse power supply scenarios. The compact DIN rail mountable enclosures measure approximately 102 x 60 x 27 mm and withstand operating temperatures from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius for the repeaters and -10 to 70 degrees Celsius for the converter. These modules are CE and FCC certified and comply with RoHS directives, making them suitable for machine automation, building automation, process control, and factory floor communication networks where signal integrity and electrical isolation are critical requirements.
