µDARC – IP67 Rugged Microserver for Tactical Edge Computing by Kontron

The Kontron µDARC is an ultra-rugged IP67-sealed mobile microserver designed for tactical edge computing in SWaP-constrained military and defence applications. Powered by a quad-core NXP Arm i.MX8X processor consuming less than 5 W, it weighs just 735 g and measures 159.2 x 111 x 38.4 mm, offering 3 GB DDR4 RAM, 8 GB eMMC storage, Gigabit Ethernet, three USB 2.0 ports, RS-232 serial, optional Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and a cybersecurity chain of trust with TPM. MIL-STD-810G and STANAG 4370 certified and ITAR free, it is ideal for soldier wearables, UAVs, UGVs, and battlefield cybersecurity gateways. Available from Recab, your Nordic partner for Kontron rugged computing solutions.
Description
The Kontron µDARC is an ultra-compact, ultra-rugged mobile microserver engineered specifically for tactical edge computing in the most demanding military and defence environments. Built around a low-power NXP Arm Cortex-A35 quad-core i.MX8X processor with an additional Cortex M4F core, GPU, and VPU, the µDARC delivers robust computing capability while consuming less than 5 W, enabling battery-powered operation in true SWaP-constrained scenarios. Its IP67-sealed enclosure measures just 159.2 x 111 x 38.4 mm and weighs 735 g, making it wearable and embeddable in soldier gear, unmanned ground vehicles, UAVs, and mobile cybersecurity platforms without adding significant payload burden. The system provides 3 GB of DDR4 RAM and 8 GB of eMMC pSLC flash storage, with options up to 32 GB pSLC or 64 GB MLC. Connectivity covers one Gigabit Ethernet port with an optional second port, three USB 2.0 ports including one OTG, two RS-232 serial ports with flow control, and optional integrated Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.2 with BLE via internal antennas, enabling flexible field networking without external hardware. Security is addressed through onboard TPM for cryptographic key management and a cybersecurity chain of trust, while onboard pressure, temperature, and voltage monitoring supports system health awareness in the field. Running Linux Yocto 4.0, the µDARC supports real-time sensor data collection and transmission for LIDAR, GPS, cameras, and communications equipment. Certified to MIL-STD-810G, STANAG 4370 AECTP 300/400/500, and MIL-STD-461G, and confirmed ITAR free, the µDARC is available with long-term product support for defence programme lifecycles. Available from Recab, your Nordic partner for Kontron rugged computing solutions.
