The TEWS Technologies TCP469 is a standard 3U 32-bit CompactPCI module providing eight fully isolated, individually programmable RS232, RS422, and RS485 serial channels based on the Exar XR17D158 octal UART. Each channel is galvanically isolated from the system and from all other channels via digital isolators and an onboard DC/DC converter, with ESD protection up to ±15 kV and baud rates up to 5.5296 Mbps on RS422/RS485. Description
The TEWS Technologies TCP469 is a high-density 3U 32-bit CompactPCI serial interface module conforming to PICMG 2.0 R3.0, purpose-built for engineers who need eight independently configurable, fully isolated serial communication channels in a single CompactPCI slot. Based on the Exar XR17D158 universal PCI octal UART and a CPLD register architecture, each of the eight channels can be programmed individually as RS232, RS422, RS485 Full Duplex, or RS485 Half Duplex, with programmable termination for RS422 and RS485 interfaces. RS232 channels achieve baud rates up to 921.6 kbps, while RS422 and RS485 channels reach up to 5.5296 Mbps, making the TCP469 suitable for both standard and high-speed serial applications. Each channel features 64-byte transmit and receive FIFOs with programmable trigger levels to minimize CPU overhead, alongside readable FIFO levels and a Global Interrupt Source Register for fast interrupt identification. Galvanic isolation is achieved per channel using digital isolators and onboard integrated DC/DC converters, with ESD protection up to ±15 kV on all serial transceivers, making it exceptionally robust in electrically noisy industrial and defence environments. Front panel I/O is provided via an HD50 SCSI-2 type connector, and the board operates from -40 to +85 °C with an MTBF of 578,000 hours per MIL-HDBK-217F.
