SMARTCASE S730 – Compact Mini-ITX Industrial Chassis Kit by Kontron

The Kontron SMARTCASE S730 is a slim, compact industrial chassis kit engineered specifically for Kontron Mini-ITX motherboards, providing a reliable and flexible enclosure solution for edge computing, industrial automation, digital signage, and building automation deployments. At just 250 x 52 x 191mm and approximately 1kg, the SMARTCASE S730 offers a minimal footprint while supporting a full range of thermal configurations. In passive fanless operation with the D3713-V/R or D3723-R motherboards, it handles up to 15W TDP from -10°C to 35°C in horizontal and vertical positions, or up to 12W TDP in vertical position only to +40°C. With the K3931-N Alder Lake-N board, fanless operation is rated to +45°C at 15W TDP in vertical orientation. With the optional slim active heatsink kit, the chassis supports up to 35W TDP from -10°C to 45°C in either orientation, making it adaptable to a broad range of thermal scenarios. The integrated fan, when fitted, carries an MTBF of 70,000 hours at 40°C for long-term reliability. The chassis package includes dual front USB 3.2 Gen 1 connectors on an integrated riser card holder with illuminated power button and chassis intrusion switch, an HDD carrier with 4-pin PWM fan, SATA and power cables for one 2.5-inch drive, wall mount metal brackets, and a removable desk stand for horizontal or vertical placement. Features include a PCIe x4 low-profile riser card slot, two rear COM port apertures, RP-SMA WLAN antenna connector, Kensington lock support, and a mechanical DC-In connector lock for security. The rear panel also includes a DC-In lockable 8V to 34V input, DisplayPort output with removable covers, and an aperture for the rear USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C extension available with the K3931-N board. CE Class B and FCC Class B EMC approvals with industrial immunity to EN 61000-6-2 and safety certification to IEC 62368-1 are included.
