The Hirschmann EAGLE40-4F-ROUTER is a field-level industrial firewall designed to bring advanced cybersecurity and routing capability to machine-level and zone-edge OT network protection. Its four 10/100/1000Mbps GbE RJ45 ports, combined with a 1x RJ45 serial interface supporting RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485, make it a versatile edge security appliance capable of connecting to both modern Ethernet devices and legacy serial equipment in the same deployment. Powered by an NXP i.MX 8M Mini ARMv8 64-bit Cortex-A53 processor at 1.6GHz with 2GB LPDDR4 RAM and 8GB eMMC storage, the EAGLE40-4F-ROUTER draws just 2.5 to 12W from a dual 12 to 24VDC supply, making it highly energy-efficient for distributed field deployment. The IPSec VPN engine supports IKE v1/v2, AES-128/192/256, 3DES, X.509v3 certificates, PSK, NAT-T, and Hub-and-Spoke topology for secure inter-site connectivity. Routing features include static routing with route tracking, OSPFv2, multinetting, 1-to-1 NAT, port forwarding, IP masquerading, and both port-based and VLAN-based routing. Security capabilities cover stateful inspection firewall rules in both routed and transparent modes for Layer 2 and Layer 3 filtering, DoS prevention, role-based access control, firewall learning mode, management VLAN, LDAP authentication, RADIUS remote authentication, and ingress storm protection. VRRP with tracking framework ensures gateway redundancy. Management tools include CLI, HTTPS web interface, SNMPv3, SSH2/SFTP/SCP, LLDP, ACA22, and Hirschmann’s Industrial HiVision and HiView platforms. The 48 x 137 x 105mm aluminum housing with DIN clip mounts on standard 35mm DIN rail, operates from -40 to +70°C, and carries CE, FCC, UL 61010, ISA-12.12.01 Class 1 Div. 2, and ATEX-95 Category 3G Zone 2 hazardous location approvals alongside a 5-year warranty.
