Description
The Printec-DS DS85S is a purpose-built compact industrial keyboard designed to deliver reliable human-machine input in the harshest industrial, military, and maritime applications. With 85 keys arranged in a space-saving 238 x 127 x 16mm layout on a 15.5mm grid, it provides a complete set of controls while occupying minimum panel real estate — an essential quality for space-constrained control consoles and shipboard installations. The silicone rubber keypad sits on a rigid metal backplate and uses carbon contact technology, offering a tactile 1.5mm key travel at 4.5N operating force and a rated durability of 500,000 cycles per key. All key symbols are applied by laser etching with a UV-coated, abrasion-resistant black finish and white lettering, ensuring long-term legibility even under continuous heavy use. The DS85S achieves IP68 protection class, offering complete dust tightness and protection against sustained submersion, fulfilling the IEC 60529 requirements for water jet resistance (IPX5) and constant submersion (IPX8) in addition to full protection against solid foreign objects. It is fully certified to IEC 60945, the international standard for maritime navigation and radio communication equipment, making it an appropriate choice for naval, offshore, and commercial shipping installations. Adjustable white LED backlighting is controlled via two integrated keys, and LED mode indicators provide at-a-glance status feedback.
