VME217

VME217 – 12/24 Port VME Managed Layer Two Switch by VadaTech

The VadaTech VME217 is a 6U single-slot VME managed Layer 2 Gigabit Ethernet switch designed for embedded defence, aerospace, and industrial computing applications. It delivers 8 ports of 10/100/1000 Ethernet via RJ-45 and 4 ports via SFF transceivers on the base board, with optional expansion to 24 ports via SFP on a double-slot configuration. Supporting 4K IEEE 802.1Q VLANs, QoS, spanning tree, and up to 8K MAC addresses, the VME217 is managed via HTTP and draws power directly from the VME bus backplane. Available from Recab, your Nordic partner for VadaTech VME networking solutions.
Description
The VadaTech VME217 is a 6U single-slot VME managed Layer 2 Gigabit Ethernet switch module built for engineers integrating high-reliability networking into VME-based embedded systems. Designed for defence, aerospace, and rugged industrial applications, the VME217 delivers 8 ports of 10/100/1000BASE-T Ethernet via RJ-45 combined with 4 ports of Gigabit Ethernet via SFF transceivers supporting 1000BASE-SX or 1000BASE-LX on the base board, expandable to 24 total ports through an optional SFP expansion board in a double-slot configuration. The switch is managed via HTTP and supports a comprehensive feature set including 4K IEEE 802.1Q VLANs, IEEE 802.1p QoS packet classification, IEEE 802.1D spanning tree, port mirroring, VLAN-based packet filtering, and up to 8K MAC address capacity with hardware-based learning. Advanced capabilities include Q-in-Q double tagging, ACL-based content-aware filtering with 512 rules, four QoS queues per port with SP, WRR, and DRR scheduling, DSCP-based prioritisation, IEEE 802.1x port security, and denial of service prevention. The module draws standard +5V power directly from the VME backplane, routes IACKIN to IACKOUT via DIP switches, and features a hot-swap ejector handle. Environmental options span commercial to industrial temperature ranges with optional conformal coating. VadaTech holds ISO9001 and AS9100 certifications and offers full ecosystem support including OpenVPX, ATCA, and MTCA platforms. Available from Recab, your Nordic partner for VadaTech VME networking solutions.
